Samsung continues its momentum and now offers the fifth model of the Galaxy S. The Galaxy range S5 is , like its predecessor, equipped with a 5.1 inch screen , displaying an HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.

However, the unit is now equipped with a biometric sensor and provides some resistance to water and dust.

ALL IN THE DETAIL

But if the design of the device does not seem to have changed much at first glance, the most observant will notice several improvements , both physical and in terms of interface.

First, the housing . It is IP67 certified , which means it resists splash and dust. But do not take it with you in the shower, since the headphone jack is not sealed .

Samsung claims to have listened to users who wanted to use their phones without worrying outdoor climatic conditions.

The hull gives the impression of a successful finished leather , while it is yet a treated plastic .

The back of the case is now equipped with a biometric sensor, which captures the heartbeat . It is located just next to the flash . Just run the application S Health, and follow the instructions.

In addition, the device is equipped with a fingerprint reader. Indeed, it suffices to scan a certain portion of the bottom of the screen and the physical camera button (always following the instructions to that effect) to unlock it.

INTERFACE 

The TouchWiz interface has again been improved and you can feel a slight influence iOS7, while the icons have adopted a somewhat flat appearance. 

By cons, Samsung seems to have realized that users prefer to have the choice to install some applications or features and opted for adding shortcuts, rather than delivering a device too busy. 

For example, the "Kid Mode" is not installed by default. A good idea, since users do not necessarily have all of the children. We can therefore download the application (which is still about 60 MB) by clicking on the shortcut.

MODE OPTIMAL ENERGY SAVING 

Samsung has introduced a new mode called "Ultra energy saving", which forces the device to display in black and white. 

Super AMOLED therefore uses almost as much energy, since to display black, AMOLED pixel should be off. 

The home screen also changes to display only a few options available (telephone, calculator, web browser, etc).

SIDE PHOTO 

The camera 16 megapixel rear camera provides ultra fast focusing in 0.3 seconds and also shoots 4k video. 

A limit of 5 minutes per clip is imposed, but when you see the resulting, 350 MB per second file size, it becomes tempting to shoot little longer. 

The camera on the front allows for easy self-portraits taken with a wide angle and a smoothing function of skin 5 levels, among other things. 

The photo application offers a variety of settings, including photo and video stabilization, methods of measuring exposure, burst mode, HDR mode and several others, which enhances the photo experience for those who know the slightest.

OTHER FEATURES OF INTEREST 

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is equipped with an infrared transmitter, allowing to take control of your TV in seconds, regardless of brand. 

The device is also compatible with Gear watches, which is great, saw the launch of the new Gear 2, and Neo Fit models.
